THE CORE VALUES OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

BASED ON JESUS

Jesus is the rock upon which we are built. He is the only begotten Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again to forgive us and give us eternal life. There is no other foundation upon which to build your life.

BUILT BY JESUS

Jesus never told us to build his church. He said, "I will build my church” and, in the New Testament, he shows us how he builds his church. His church isn’t built by gimmicks, trends, marketing campaigns, or any of the many “church growth” ideas employed by so many today. Jesus builds his church with love. Jesus said that the greatest two things we can do are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

BELONGS TO JESUS

It is not our church, but his church. The church does not belong to any one of us individually, nor to all of us collectively. It belongs to Jesus. He purchased us with his own blood. We are “his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” He is the great shepherd of his sheep, the head of his church, and he guides us and governs us with his word.
Everything about the church is to bring glory to God through his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s all about him!
